On 9 December 2012, the official funeral service of the late Patriarch Ignatius IV took place in the Cathedral of St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Beirut. The funeral service served by His Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, His Beatitude Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus, and His Beatitude Archbishop Anastasios of Albania, as well part in the funeral service took also delegations of the Local Orthodox Churches, led by Metropolitan Nicholas of Hermopolis (Patriarchate of Alexandria), Metropolitan Benedictos of Philadelphia (Patriarchate of Jerusalem), Metropolitan of Volokolamsk Ilarion (Patriarchate of Moscow and all Russia) Bishop Antonije of Moravicí (Patriarchate of Serbian), Archbishop Casian of Lower Danube (Patriarchate of Romanian), Metropolitan Stephan of Tsageri and Lentekhi (Patriarchate of Georgia) and Metropolitan Ioannis of Langadas (Orthodox Church of Greece).
Present in the Cathedral were also Mr. Michel Suleiman, President of the Republic of Lebanon; Mr. Najib Azmi Mikati, Prime Minister of Lebanon; heads and representatives of non-Orthodox confessions, members of the diplomatic corps, accredited to Beirut; numerous clerics and laymen of the Patriarchate of Antioch; and public figures of Lebanon and Syria. On 10 December 2012, an official funeral service of the late Patriarch Ignatius IV took place in the Cathedral Church of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate in Damascus which served by the Metropolitan Saba of Basra- Horan and hierarchs, numerous clerics and laymen of the Patriarchate of Antioch.
