Christian Sunday School

Introduction

By the grace of God and the glory of Jesus Christ our lord, the Orthodox Sunday school in Doha was inaugurated in October 2005, where Archimandrite Makarios met with a group of workers from the parish church in Qatar and children of various age in a school rented for this purpose.

Educational material

The Sunday school’s first duty and the most important message is to teach the Bible. The curriculum and course books used for this purpose have been adopted by all Orthodox schools in the Middle East. The aim of schools to teach the principles of Christianity, to educate the children by a number of psalmody and songs and basic prayer, as well as to teach them how to participate in the celebration of the holy liturgy. The lessons are now available in Arabic. However, the workers are seeking to convey the idea to the children in English in case they find it difficult to absorb. It is important to accustom children to read the Bible in Arabic and understand its meaning.
