Orthodox Church of Talin and all Estonia
Orthodox Church of Estonia was recognized as an
autonomous church by the Ecumenical Patriarchate
in 1923. After the Second World War, Estonia
became a part of the Soviet Union and therefore
a part of the Patriarchate in Moscow without the
approval of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. In
1996, the Church regained its autonomous status.
After that, the Synod of the Patriarchate in
Constantinople appointed Metropolitan Stephan
the Head of
Orthodox Church of Talin and all Estonia.
Today, the Church of Estonia has twenty priests,
four deacons and 60 parishes. |
