His Beatitude Anastasios

Orthodox Church in Albania was announced independent in 1937 by the Ecumenical Patriarch Benjamin I. The Independent Orthodox Church of Albania was abolished in 1967 when Albania became an atheistic country. In 1990, when the Christians stopped being prosecuted, the Ecumenical Patriarchate appointed Anastasios the Archbishop of Tirana and all Albania. Today, the Church of Albania has 6 bishops, 150 priests and 2 monasteries.
